Project Brief

The goal of Screen2Green is to design and develop an automated interactive plant pot that is linked to the user’s digital activity, encouraging healthier screen habits and increased awareness of well-being and sustainability.

The project requirements are:

  1. The system should automatically check the plant’s condition and control watering.
  2. Electronic parts and water parts should be separated for safety.
  3. User data should be protected securely.
  4. The system should help users build better screen habits without harming users or plants.
  5. The product should not be too expensive and should be easy to use.
  6. The product should use eco-friendly materials as much as possible and use less energy.
  7. Broken parts should be easy to replace, and the product should be easy to fix.
  8. Comply with the following EU Directives:
    1. Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMCD);
    2. Low Voltage Directive (LVD);
    3. Machinery Directive (MD);
    4. Radio Equipment Directive (RED);
    5. Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (ROHS);
  9. Mandatory adoption and use of the International System of Units (The NIST International Guide for the use of the International System of Units)
  10. Use open source software and technologies.
